Miska in Finnish Club Show 1996(?)

Brief history

The dog I grew up with was a Flat Coated Retriever, who was adopted in to our family when I was  seven years old. He was a young boy's dream come true, the nicest pet ever! Sadly we lost him at the age of 7. "Pessi" must be the reason why I'm still so interested in Retrievers and feel them as my roots :)

Labrador "Bini" followed "Pessi". With him I started the Field Trial & obedience training studies. We even went to couple of shows, but his inside was his best side, so we left the show scenes for others. He was my first OWN dog, together we learned about the life and it's wonders, and still miss him so much.

Soon I got to know Tiina Eskelinen, kennel Carneval's. With her , I learned to trim & show Golden Retrievers. At that time we both lived in Kajaani, northern Finland. The distances were long but we didn't mind. Nearly every weekend ,we packed the car and headed south where most of the shows were/are. I can tell you -oh boy- we travelled... Tiina has been my close friend during these years. She is much to blame for this doggy passion.

My show fever was rising and I started to want a OWN dog to show and a kind of dog that would be competitive in rings. For some reason I wanted something else than Retriever (well I had  my hands full  showing Tiina's dogs :) ) and actually I went to look Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers to my school mate Kirsi Nummela "Soleydan", who I had got to know from dog training and District Kennel  junior club. Yes Wheatens were just as nice as I knew them to be, but there was MUCH cuter  creature with naked butt. It was love on first sight! She was Fin Ch Neerlands Trots Auriske Pompadour.

After a while Kirsi suggested I  get  a Lowchen male together with her. So this is how I got "Reiska" Chic Choix Il Est Si Chic. Soon his breeder Juha Kares called me and offered me a bitch that he was importing from Belgium, and this way came "Tosca" Tabula Rasa Pamela. Like many other Lowchen fanciers, I faced the only "bad" thing getting a Lowchen . You can not have just one, and three is as easy as two and they are so small so you can easily have four... :)

All  this started as a joke....I had one Pem on show tour with me and she just made my trip :) I said to my friend that one day I will have my own sausage and soon I noticed that I actually had one... Our Pems have suffered in being in different FCI group than Lowchens. They often are in different days and when they are at the same day ,I have had my hands filled with Lowchens. At the moment Pembroke breeding is on a break. Hopefully one day again...

In June 2002,  after almost 2 years  of intense studies, lectures & exams in Finnish Kennel Club's judges training  I was rewarded: I got licence to judge Löwchens in champion level, being one of the youngest judges in modern FKC judges training program.

So far I have received licences for some FCI 9 (toy & companion) breeds and now trying to find time and focus on Group, which I feel to be "my" group, FCI 8 (Retrievers, Spaniels & Water dogs). Time is just so limited, and I really would like to compete with my own dogs as well. So I hope to get this group and then the Corgies...

2003 Wanted Löwchens was  awarded the "Vuolasvirta -award" by the Finnish Kennel Club for quality breeding. This is the highest award any breeder can receive in Finland.

2005 Wanted was awarded the SUKOKA (Finnish Dog Breeders Club) - breeders award.

Wanted is the 2nd Löwchen kennel in this country to receive these prizes. Needless to say  we are very proud for these accomplishments.

Sincere Thank You to all who have made these possible for me!!!! With humble mind I continue my work.

I have passed the pole - I have had Löwchens longer than not having them in my life, and still can not picture my life without them.

Thank you Kirsi and Juha for trusting that ambitious teenager boy and introducing this hidden treasure to me!

Big Thank You both for all the advice you have given me in the beginning! Hard to believe almost 20 years has passed, when I was on train with the best puppy ever, thinking what the future will bring...

Other people who have influenced a lot of my thoughts about the breed, breeding in general and just having the right words at the right time, are my dear friends: Dennis, Felizitas, Kirsi, Cath  & Liane, Lotta, Sonja, May and Marilyn. But still the biggest " Thank You "  goes to my parents :)

I end this with two of my very favourite quotes:

~Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present~
by Albert Camus
&
Duo cum faciunt idem, non est idem
"When two do the same, it isn't the same"

Take care of yourself and your Löwchen.

Best Greetings,
Jari & hounds of Wanted
